Whew it’s been a hot minute. The weather cooperated for a quick trip to South Bend and a visit to the Four Winds stadium. We did pre-game a bit at the South Bend Brewworks, which has great beer, pizza, AND pretzels (not pictured due to HANGER).
The Cubs were victorious 6-1 in arguably the most dynamic minor league game we’ve seen thus far. And yes, the stadium is shiny and new, but most impressive is the historic Jewish synagogue that they converted into their merch shop. Good on you for saving this landmark.

An early game left time for dinner and South Bend’s downtown may be a tad on the vacant side, but it doesn’t lack in locally owned restaurants. Cinco was a very random mix of Mexican and Thai and it was amazing.
The night still young, we ventured to the Notre Dame campus for a walk.

The morning promissed more beer and foodstuffs at Evil Czech brewing. Holy BRUNCH!!! Not only is the beer on point, the all-you-can-eat tiny plates were so.very.yummy!!!

Elkhart, IN has a lovely Island park with many bridges that traverse the St. Jo, a river quick enough to power the local Industrial Revolution. Also home to Iechyd Da brewing, which is cheers in Welsh. Heather’s welsh heart was warmed by their nod to the homeland.
Baseball, breweries, brunch…BEST way to spend a weekend in the Hoosier heartland.
