We made the trip up to Kokomo to check out college ball with a Jackrabbits win over the Battlecreek Battle Jacks. $11 bought us front row seats, which were well worth the drive on a Monday night.

Thursday saw us in Fort Wayne to see our favorite team, the High A Tincaps. Though they didn’t win over the Dayton Dragons, they put on a superb game and the fireworks display was amazing. We even stayed to run the bases, but thankfully the lighting was bad and the pictures were blurry! 😉

Our week of baseball ended with a quick jaunt to Nashville, TN where the stadium smelled of wood fired barbecue and the beers were nearly as expensive as the seats. The sell-out crowd cheered the Sounds on to a win against the Gwinnett Stripers. The high scoring game was exciting to watch – Nashville puts on a good show.

Speaking of Nashville, Tennessee’s state Capitol was charming, full of history and interesting architecture. We enjoyed Smith & Lentz brewery, especially their wood fire pizza, and the downtown Sheraton, which was a quick walk to the state Capitol building, Bicentennial park, and the Sounds stadium. We also happened upon a Sunday morning Old Fashioned at Skulls Rainbow Room, which opened its doors in 1948 and has played host to the likes of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings. We will definitely be back to see more of Nashville and this beautiful state!
